Fatal Features of the Prohibition Blunder: Militarizing Police

In a blast-from-the-not-so-distant-past article published in late 2019, evidence mounts against what appears to be loose—and deadly—police practices in Houston, TX.


While most of us can be fairly certain that police will not suddenly crash through our front door in the middle of the night, that's not the case in Houston. A federal indictment revealed that on January 28, 2019, a drug raid based on false information resulted in the death of a middle-aged couple at 7815 Harding Street, while no evidence of drug dealing was found.


"No-knock" raids like these should alarm more than just Prohibition abolitionists; they should terrify anyone who upholds the Fourth Amendment and its protection against unreasonable searches.
